2015 Cubs Convention event begins this Friday, January 16

The 30th Annual Cubs Convention will kick off this Friday, January 16 at the Sheraton Chicago and will feature a ton of current and alumni players with plenty of events to keep fans busy.

This years convention will look and feel completely different with new manager Joe Maddon and ace lefty Jon Lester leading the charge and I’m sure there’s going to be a lot of talk about the post-season this weekend. Not only will Lester and company be in attendance, but third base prospect Kris Bryant, outfielder Albert Almora, catcher Kyle Schwarber and pitchers C.J. Edwards and Pierce Johnson have been confirmed.

Speaking of alumni and a look at the 2007 squad, Jacque Jones, Fergie Jenkins, Mark DeRosa, Kerry Wood, Gary Matthews, Ted Lilly Glenn Beckert and other Cubs legends have been confirmed.

Shortly after the Opening Ceremony scheduled for 6 p.m., a ‘Friday Night with Ryan Dempster‘ will take place between 7:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and is presented by Budweiser. Fans in attendance will have an action packed Saturday with 13 events started from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. beginning with the ‘Ricketts Family Forum’ and ending with Cubs bingo.

Just like last years convention, there will be a Cubs Jeopardy early in the morning with Cubs Family Feud scheduled for late afternoon.  About a half-hour into the look at the 2007-2008 Cubs, there will be a separate event that will introduce management followed by a meeting with new faces on this roster.

The final day of the convention will feature a ’30 Years of Cubs Convention Memories’ presentation with the ‘Down on the Farm’ event to end the weekend.

This year is definitely going to be filled with nothing but excitement and high hopes. Just days after bringing in new faces, this teams World Series odds have greatly improved. With talent still brewing down in the minor league circuit, and those who made their debut last season still looking to raise the bar, the confidence of this club appears to be through the roof.
