The Chicago Cubs look to remain a thorn in the sides of teams vying for playoff spots as they look for their second win in a row against the Milwaukee Brewers.
For the Cubs (62-76), Jake Arrieta (7-5, 2.88) takes the mound hoping to fare better than he did in his last start. His command escaped him against the Cincinnati Reds, as he hit the 96 pitch mark after four innings, allowing six runs for the second time this year.
For the Brewers(73-64), they’ll pin their division leading hopes on Yovani Gallardo (8-7, 3.26). In 18 career starts against the Cubs, Gallardo posts a 9-3 record with a 3.00 ERA. Milwaukee currently sits one game behind the first-place Cardinals.
The Cubs will be without Anthony Rizzo indefinitely after an MRI showed a strained muscle in his lower back.
With the roster expansions, the Cubs will not send him to the DL. However, they will be very cautious with Rizzo for the remainder of the season. The game is scheduled for a 7:05 pm CT first pitch. CSN+ will have the television coverage, and WGN 720 AM will have the radio as usual. Here are the lineups for tonight’s game:
