The Chicago Cubs (52-67) will conclude their home stand with an afternoon matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers (66-55) behind right-hander Edwin Jackson, who is looking to push his string of consecutive quality starts to three.
In his last start, the veteran tossed six innings, allowing three earned runs against Tampa Bay on Saturday. On the year, Jackson (6-12, 5.61 ERA) has been up-and-down, with his earned run average peaking above 6.00 at one point.
He will be opposed by Mike Fiers (1-1, 1.80 ERA), who is filling in for former Cub righty Matt Garza, who is currently injured. The right-hander allowed one run on three hits over eight innings in a win over the Dodgers.
This afternoon’s game will be broadcast on both television and radio on WGN. First pitch is slated for 1:20 p.m. CT.
