Down on the Farm: Dan Straily throws six scoreless innings

Dan Straily threw six scoreless innings for his third straight outing without allowing a run for the Iowa Cubs as they moved into sole possession of first-place in the Chicago Cubs minor-league action Monday.

Straily (7-6) gave up only two hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out four and walked three.

Logan Watkins singled and Jorge Soler doubled in a run the first for a 2-0 lead in the first.

Matt Szczur hit an RBI single in the ninth. He was 2-for-4 with a walk and two stolen bases while scoring once.

James Underwood allowed only one run on three hits over four innings then Brad Markey pitched two innings of one run ball for the win.

Underwood struck out three and walked one while Markey struck out two and walked none.

Danny Canela hit a three-run home run in the third for his sixth on the season. Canela was 3-for-3 with a walk and scored two runs and had four RBIs.

Bryant Flete was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Mark Zagunis was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored. David Bote went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI while Calvin Graves 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.
