The Chicago Cubs made a few bullpen moves Sunday, activating Neil Ramirez from the disabled list and placing newly acquired Jacob Turner on the roster.Chris Rusin was optioned to Triple-A Iowa, tweets Chicago Tribune’s Paul Sullivan.
The Cubs announced right-handed reliever Brian Schlitter was placed on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation.
Turner, 23, was acquired Saturday from the Miami Marlins and struggled this season, posting a 5.97 ERA and a 1.65 WHIP in 78 1/3 innings over 20 appearances for the Marlins.
The ninth-overall pick in 2009 was traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Marlins in 2012 in the deal that brought starter Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to Detroit.
The 25-year-old Rusin, has posted a 7.11 ERA in four games over 12 2/3 innings for the Cubs this season.
Ramirez comes off the disabled list after rehabbing sore triceps. Prior to his DL stint, he was 1-1 with a 0.96 ERA and 0.929 WHIP over 28 innings in 33 games for the Cubs.
