All-Star first baseman Anthony Rizzo will get the day off and Chris Valaika will make his first start at first base since being called up from Triple-A Iowa as the Chicago Cubs look to win their first series in Colorado since August 2004.

Last week the Cubs won a home series against the Rockies then a road series at Dodger Stadium, and with a series victory it would be the first time since July 19-28, 2013 they have strung together three straight.

Valaika start also means five of the today’s starter’s including right-hander Kyle Hendricks have spent part of the year at Triple-A.

Hendricks (2-1) will look for his fourth straight quality start, he gave up two runs on four hits over seven innings Friday in an 8-2 win at National League West-leading Dodgers.

Since Hendricks arrival from Triple-A on July 22, he has posted an 0.89 ERA in three starts.

The Rockies send Yohan Flande (0-3), who is looking for his first major league win in his third appearance against the Cubs in as many games. The southpaw gave up two runs over 6 2/3 innings and struck out eight in a 4-1 loss at Wrigley on July 28, then pitched 1 2/3 hitless innings in relief three days later.

Javier Baez has gone 1-for-10 in the series with his lone hit being the game-winning home run in the series opener in the 12th inning.

Game Time: 2:10 p.m. CST
