8/1 Morning Marquee: Jake Arrieta dominate, MLB Trade Deadline fallout

Jake Arrieta threw his 10th consecutive quality start in a Chicago Cubs’ 3-1 win as one of the most active MLB Trade Deadline days came to a close.

The Cubs’ sent Emilio Bonifacio and reliever James Russell to the Braves for minor league catcher and third baseman Victor Caratini.

The Oakland Athletics traded outfielder Yoenis Cespedes to the Red Sox for starting pitcher Jon Lester and outfielder Jonny Gomes, then sent starter Tommy Milone to the Twins for outfielder Sam Fuld.

The Red Sox kept busy by sending starter John Lackey to the Cardinals for starter Joe Kelly and first baseman Allen Craig, then reliever Andrew Miller to the Orioles for minor leaguer Eduaro Rodriguez and utility man Kelly Johnson from the Yankees for Stephen Drew.

The Tigers acquired David Price in a three-team blockbuster with the Rays and Mariners.
