The Chicago Cubs had an off day Monday before their three-game series against San Diego at Wrigley Field. Kyle Hendricks and Tsuyoshi Wada will start in the series as the Cubs look to fill out 40 percent of their rotation for the third straight summer.
Around the league: Dan Uggla is headed to the Giants and will report to their Triple-A team, and in related news the Giants topped the Phillies’ in Cliff Lee‘s return from the disabled list and placed their own ace Matt Cain on the DL. Also, Yankees’ first baseman Mark Teixeria will miss a few days with a lat strain and David Ortiz tied Carl Yastrzemski on the all-time home run list.
