7/19 Morning Marquee: Anthony Rizzo leads the NL in HRs, Astros fail to sign No. 1 pick

Anthony Rizzo hit two home runs and Edwin Jackson pitched well enough to win, but the Cubs bullpen gave up a three-run lead for a 5-4 loss to the D-backs to start the second half.

Rizzo is seeing signs of improvement in his offensive as he is now the National League leader in home runs with 22. The Cubs’ pitching rotation looks to be taking form following the Jason HammelJeff Samardzija blockbuster trade with the Athletics.

Around the league: the Astros failed to sign the number one overall pick Brady Aiken, Huston Street was sent from the Padres to the Angels in a six-player deal, and the Braves released second baseman Dan Uggla.
