Game Two: 7:05 p.m. CT – TV: CSN, Radio: WGN AM-720
Right-hander Jake Arrieta (3-1, 1.98 ERA) takes the ball for the Cubs in the second game of the series, looking to build on the best season of his career. The 28-year-old former Orioles prospect has been purely dominant for Chicago this year. In his last start, the righty allowed one run in seven innings of work and in the entire month of June, spanning four starts and 24 2/3 innings, Arrieta has allowed just two earned runs.
Veteran Homer Bailey (7-3, 4.68 ERA) will oppose him, looking to get on track after a rough start to the 2014 campaign. His 4.68 ERA would be the highest full-season mark of his big league career and more often than not, the right-hander has simply failed to miss bats, as opposing hitters have tallied 102 hits against Bailey in just 90 1/3 innings of work.
