Pregame Notes: Cubs at Pirates at 6:05 p.m. CT, Lineups and More

The Chicago Cubs look to earn a series split and avoid another road loss with Jeff Samardzija (2-5, 2.54 ERA) on the mound against the Pirates at 6:05 p.m. CT on WGN.

Samardzija started the season at PNC Park on Opening Day and has made 10 appearances (five starts) covering 44 innings in Pittsburgh. His inning total at PNC Park is surpassed only by Wrigley Field. He has a n 0.61 ERA, 0.591 WHIP on 20 hits and six walks with 36 strikeouts there as well.

Edinson Volquez (3-5, 4.27 ERA) will take the mound for the Pirates and in his last outing gave up six runs to the Cubs. He is leading the league in wild pitches with seven.

Rookie Gregory Polanco will get his first Major League start at leadoff while once again there is rain in the forecast.
