After back-to-back wins in front of the home faithful to open up a six-game home stand, the Chicago Cubs will look to complete a three-game sweep of the New York Mets behind southpaw Travis Wood Thursday night.
Chicago (22-34) has edged New York (28-31) in each of the series’ first two games, outscoring the Mets 7-5 in the first two games, including a 5-4 win that came on a wild pitch Wednesday night and a walk-off win in the series opener Tuesday.
Travis Wood (5-5, 5.15 ERA) is looking to turn his season around with a win at Wrigley Field, as he looks to revert to the form that made him the team’s lone National League All-Star representative last season. He will be opposed by New York rookie Jacob deGrom (0-2, 2.42 ERA), who is searching for his first big league game. His last time out, the young Mets’ hurler fanned 11.
Tonight’s game will be broadcast on CSN and WGN AM 720 will have the radio call – as it finishes out its last season as the team’s radio home.
