Aging veterans Larry Bowa and Ron Cey rounded out the infield, with Gary Matthews leading the outfield mix. Rick Sutcliffe anchored the starting rotation, going 16-1 with a 2.69 ERA. Dennis Eckersley won 10 games in 24 starts. Lee Smith contributed 33 saves.
