The Chicago Cubs had a scheduled off-day Monday, but the team still made news with top prospect Javier Baez did not play and is listed as day-to-day with a sore wrist.
Kris Bryant was 2-for-4 with one walk and one strikeout while Albert Almora was 0-for-5 for Daytona.
The Cubs begin a three-game set against the New York Mets Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. CT with Jake Arrieta (1-1) taking the mound and will be opposed by Zac Wheeler (2-5).
Around the league: the Astros called up top prospect Jon Singleton, the Indians snapped the Red Sox’s seven-game win streak, White Sox’s Jose Abreu homered off Clayton Kershaw in his return from the disabled list.
