Last but not least, you have the lovable Tennessee Smokies. Tennessee’s performance has been up and down this season but they looked better tonight.

They would trail the Lookouts 3-0 before putting up their first run of the ballgame during the top of the fifth inning to make it 3-1. Smokies pitcher Corey Black struggled during the first five innings of the contest. He would allow the Lookouts to extend their lead during the bottom half of the frame by putting up a three spot.

Black made it through only five innings of work today, giving up four hits and five earned runs. The young righty would walk five batters and give up a home run which came during the bottom of the fourth inning. This two run blast by Ozzie Martinez would make it 3-0, Lookouts.

Just when it looked like the Smokies were down and out, they continued to fight back. Rafael Lopez picked up two RBIs on a single to center field during the top of the fifth, while Anthony Giansanti cut the lead to just two after grounding into a double play to make it a 6-4 ball game. But Tennessee would fall short despite their late comeback.

Winning pitcher tonight is Garrett Gould (1-4, 6.41 ERA), losing pitcher is Corey Black (2-2, 3.54 ERA).

Final Score: Lookouts 6, Smokies 4.

Tennessee Smokies fall to 16-14.
