Chris Rusin gave up nine runs on Wednesday afternoon in a 14-4 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks after the Cubs named John Baker their backup catcher.

Prior to the game, third baseman Donnie Murphy was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers and the Cubs waived veteran catcher George Kottaras. These moves likely put Mike Olt or Luis Valbuena to start at third base while John Baker will backup Welington Castillo and Eli Whiteside will start at Triple-A Iowa.
