Luis Valbuena hit two home runs off a pair of Chicago White Sox left-handers to lead the Chicago Cubs to a 7-0 win over their Crosstown rivals. The rematch and spring finale for both teams will take place next Thursday in Mesa.

Chris Rusin gave up just two hits over five shutout innings and was anchored by an impressive bullpen performance by Alberto Cabrera, Wesley Wright, Jonathan Sanchez, and Brian Schlitter for four scoreless to shutout the White Sox.

Valbuena hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning off left-hander John Danks for a 4-0 Cubs’ lead. Javier Baez slipped as he stepped on a base and was pulled from the game later in the inning and was diagnosed with a right heel contusion.

Valbuena hit his second home run in the seventh to extend the lead to 5-0. Junior Lake added a two-run RBI single in the ninth off Maikel Cleto.

Mike Olt had a solid outing at DH with a double, single, and a walk to continue his push for an Opening Day roster spot.

The Cubs will return to Cubs Park on Saturday afternoon at 3:05 p.m. CT against the Cincinnati Reds for their twelve win.
