The Miami Marlins finished with a 62-100 record for last place in the entire National League, four games behind the Chicago Cubs. The Marlins last place finish marks their four consecutive losing season since 2010.

Catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia quietly signed a three-year, $21 million contract during the Winter Meetings in December after winning the World Series with the Boston Red Sox. Garrett Jones, Jeff Baker, Rafael Furcal, and Casey McGehee also signed short-term deals to make up 75-percent of the Marlins infield. Shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria is the lone man to return to the Marlins’ infield in 2014.

All-Star Giancarlo Stanton will man right field while Marcell Ozuna and Christian Yelich will take the other two spots. Yelich like Stanton is known for his bat as he hit .288 with a .370 OBP in 2013. Second-year pitcher Jose Fernandez will anchor the rotation with Nathan Eovaldi and Henderson Alvarez behind him.
