Chicago Cubs right-hander Jeff Samardzija met with media members Friday to discuss his long-term contract talks and where he stands with it. Fellow pitcher, Jake Arrieta, believes he will be ready for Opening Day despite suffering from shoulder tightness. Recently signed Jason Hammel stated he does not want to be a sign-and-flip guy and wants to be a core member of the Cubs for the future.
