2014 Cubs Convention event details announced

The 29th Annual Cubs Convention will be January 17-19 at the Sheraton Chicago and the Cubs have announced an extensive event schedule.
The Opening Ceremony will be Friday, Jan. 17 at 6 p.m., featuring player introductions on a read carpet runway, which will provide VIP access to children 16 and under. Following the Opening Ceremony, Cubs players and prospects will be available for autographs. Players will also join The David Kaplan Show on WGN Radio for interviews. Friday evening, will conclude with the premier of MLB Productions’ “100 Years of Wrigley Field,” and “Cheers to 100 Years” toast.
Saturday will feature the Cubs “Family Feud” and “Jeopardy” return, which will feature trivia based on Wrigley Field’s history. New Cubs manager Rick Renteria and his coaching staff will also be available for a meet and greet. Another 100 Years of Wrigley Field session will conclude the evening, where fans will receive a sneak peek on the planned promotions throughout the season.
Sessions which are subject to change: The Ricketts Family Forum, Meet Cubs Baseball Management, Scouting and Player Development, Rookie Development Group, For Kids Only Press Conference, 30-Year Anniversary: 1984 Team, WGN Radio Sports Central, Meet Cubs Business Management and Down on the Farm.
According to Carrie Muskat of Cubs.com, there are several current and former Cubs players that will be in attendance.
Current players: Darwin Barney, Welington Castillo, Starlin Castro, Edwin Jackson, Anthony Rizzo, James Russell, Jeff Samardzija, Nate Schierholtz, Carlos Villanueva and Travis Wood.
Former players: Fergie Jenkins, Derrek Lee, Ted Lilly, Mark Prior, Dwight Smith, Lee Smith, Jody Davis, Billy Williams, Kerry Wood and Ernie Banks.
Room packages at the Sheraton Chicago and individual weekend passes for the 2014 Cubs Convention are available. Cubs Convention room rates include passes at a discounted price of $20 per pass. Passes also can be purchased individually for $60 per pass plus convenience fees at www.cubs.com/convention or 1-800-THE-CUBS.
