The Chicago Cubs made minor moves this week, but they still will play an important role in the team’s future. The latest move was to invoke a “fatigue” clause to shut down outfielder Junior Lake from the playing the rest of the Dominican Winter League season with Estellas de Oriente.
Around the league in free agency, the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Juan Uribe to a two-year deal and the Minnesota Twins also signed pitcher Mike Pelfrey to a two-year contract. The Atlanta Braves are close to a deal with Gavin Floyd and are a new team linked to Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija.
