Cubbies Crib: Morning Marquee 11/24

Rumors continue to circulate on possible targets for Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija. The Arizona Diamonbacks, Washington Nationals, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Baltimore Orioles are teams that have been frequently mentioned to desire the right-hander. There has been speculation lately that the O’s and Cubs could do a trade involving O’s catcher Matt Wieters for Samardzija.

Around the league, the New York Yankees signed catcher Brian McCann to a five-year deal, worth more than $85 million and the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim signed reliever Joe Smith to a three-year deal. The St. Louis Cardinals are also reported to be on the verge to signing Jhonny Peralta at shortstop.
