One day after it was reported that the Chicago Cubs would interview Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo, it appears this may not happen. During a press conference on Monday afternoon at Fenway Park Red Sox’s general manager stated no teams have contacted him about interviewing Lovullo. The Red Sox are denying the Cubs a chance to interview Lovullo due to an agreement the two teams made to not hire each other’s employees when Theo Epstein joined the Cubs in October of 2011. Epstein stated he wants a new manager in place before the Winter Meetings in Orlando next, but if they believe Lovullo is worth waiting for that deadline will not be reached.
