The Detroit Tigers hired Brad Ausmus late Saturday night. Ausmus interviewed with the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Friday and was a highly touted candidate for several vacant managerial jobs.
Saturday the 2013 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox toured around the city of Boston with the Commissioner’s Trophy. The team stopped the parade at the finish line for the Boston Marathon as well, an emotional moment for players and fans alike. After the parade pitcher Jake Peavy bought a duck boat and the baseball world shifted its focus to Surprise Stadium in Surprise, Arizona for the Arizona Fall League “Fall Stars Game.”
The Fall Stars Game consisted of the MLB’s Top 100 prospects, including Cubs’ prospects Jorge Soler, Kris Bryant, and Albert Almora. Soler went 0-1, Bryant 1-4, and Almora 0-2 at the plate. Bryant committed a throwing error at third in the second and then saw the ball skip between his legs in the third that result in an unearned run.
