The Chicago Cubs interviewed former Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners skipper for the opening manager job on Tuesday. He’s the fifth candidate to talk to the Cubs about the managerial opening, joining Rick Renteria, A.J. Hinch, Dave Martinez and Manny Acta. The Cubs are also waiting for the World Series to end to talk to Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo. Darwin Barney did not repeat with a Gold Glove at second baseman and Anthony Rizzo was beat out in the balloting too.
In postseason baseball, the St. Louis Cardinals trip to Boston was delayed resulting in them arriving after 11:00 p.m. Rookie pitcher Michael Wacha will take the mound in Game 6 of the World Series against John Lackey in a Game 2 rematch. The Boston Red Sox lead the Series 3-2 and will look to clinch a World Series championship for the first time at Fenway Park since 1918.
