Cubbies Crib: Morning Marquee 10/28
A month has gone by and Theo Epstein has yet to fill the Chicago Cubs vacant managerial job. San Diego Padres’ assistant general manager A.J. Hinch and bench coach Rick Renteria are said to have second interviews but they will not be done in Chicago. Former Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners skipper Eric Wedge had a phone interview last week and will be in Chicago for an interview this week.
In postseason baseball, Jonny Gomes evened the World Series with one swing of the bat with a three-run blast. Red Sox closer Koji Uehara recorded the final out on a pick-off of pinch-runner Kolten Wong at first.
John Lester will take the mound for the Boston Red sox on Monday night against St. Louis Cardinals Adam Wainwright in a Game 1 World Series rematch.
