The Cubs sat down with Rays’ bench coach Dave Martinez, their final known candidate for the Cubs manager job Thursday while former White Sox skipper Ozzie Guillen and Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo’s names surfaced as other options. The Cubs have not announced any interested in Guillen or Lovullo at this time.
In postseason baseball, the Dodgers fell apart as the St. Louis Cardinals won 9-0 behind rookie Michael Wacha’s stellar pitching to punch their ticket to their fourth World Series berth and 19th National League pennant. The Tigers will hope to avoid the same feat as the Dodgers’ when they take on the Red Sox tonight in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. Max Scherzer will take the mound against Red Sox’s Clay Buchholz.
