Monday the Chicago Cubs met with San Diego Padres bench coach Rick Renteria to be the team’s next manager and will meet with Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Dave Martinez later this week. The Cubs faithful and sports media outlets around the world reflected on the ‘Steve Bartman incident’ and the 2003 National League Championship Series ten years after the fact on Monday, when Cubs were five outs away from their first World Series since 1945. ESPN re-aired their “Catching Hell” documentary about the game and CSN Chicago will debut their documentary “5-Outs” tonight at 9 p.m. about the events that led up to piecing together the 2003 team.

In postseason baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers took Game 3 in the NLCS Monday Night with a 3-0 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals to make the series 2-1 in St. Louis favor. Both Championship Series will be played tonight with Justin Verlander and John Lackey taking the mound in Game 3 of the ALCS in Detroit before Ricky Nolasco and the Dodgers look to even the NLCS against Lance Lynn and the Cardinals in Game 4 of the NLCS on the 25th anniversary of Kirk Gibson’s game-winning, two-out pinch-hit home run in Game 1 of the 1988 World Series for the Dodgers.
