Cubs vs Brewers Series Finale Postponed

Tonight’s Cubs game at Wrigley has been postponed due to the wind chills and freezing rain expected. If you are in the Chicagoland area and have been unfortunate to step outside for whatever reason, you are probably a little surprised considering baseball has been played in even colder weather here in Chicago before. But combined with the almost guaranteed change of rain at some point tonight, the Cubs figured it would be best to call in a personal day and take the night off. For those of you who had tickets to tonight’s match up, no announcement has been made regarding the make up date. For those of you who were planning on watching the game, you now have no excuse to do whatever it is you wanted to put off doing. If you still need your Cubs fix, feel free to check back on Cubbies Crib later tonight for the series recap. You can also interact with our crew and other fans via our Facebook page and on Twitter.

It would have been nice to get one more game in against the 2-5 Brewers who are without injured key players like Aramis Ramirez and Corey Hart. On the positive side, the Cubs now have a third off day in April, assuming the game is not made up on tax day, April 15th. Both teams currently have the day off, with the Cubs getting a break before the final series of the home stand against the Rangers, while the Brewers would be on their way back home from St. Louis prior to hosting the Giants and our Cubs. The North Siders have typically seen more than two off days in the month of April in seasons past, and since they are not carrying 13 pitchers, they may choose to reschedule the make up match with Milwaukee in September when the Brew Crew return to Wrigley. The Cubs could also look to squeeze the game in on May 6th or May 9th, with both teams being on break for those days as well.

The Cubs are scheduled to host righty Ryan Vogelsong and defending World Series champion Giants tomorrow afternoon. The overnight rains should let up by tomorrow afternoon. Even with a delay, the day game start time should allow the Cubs time to get the game in sooner or later.
