Just reaching .500 was not satisfactory enough for these Cactus Cubs. On Sunday they sought a winning record by taking on the Indians. The Cubs sent Chris Rusin to the mound despite the lefty already being assigned to Iowa to start 2013. Despite issuing three walks, Rusin only allowed two hits in 5 1/3 innings of work, giving confidence that he will look to continue his positive Spring into the Triple A season with hopes of a call up to Wrigley some time this year.
The Cubs offense picked up a run in the fourth, thanks to back to back doubles by Anthony Rizzo and Alfonso Soriano, to earn Rusin (3-0) the W before adding insurance runs in the top of the eighth. Steve Clevenger was one of the hitters collecting a RBI in the eighth, with the Cubs third string catcher manning third base in his game.

Those three runs in the eighth came in handy as the Indians mounted a late comeback against Casey Coleman and Jensen Lewis. Although neither will join the team on Opening Day, Lewis was able to collect the save against his former team.
The win puts the Cubs at 16-15 in Cactus League play.
