BREAKING: Cubs On The Verge Of Signing Scott Feldman (Updated)

Buster Olney is reporting this morning that the Cubs are on the cusp of signing RHP Scott Feldman.

The 6’6″ righty spent his entire career in Texas with a 5.09 ERA, a 1.383 WHIP, and an 89 ERA+ in 123.2 total innings pitched in 2012.

Feldman would act as bottom end starter for the Cubs, possibly as a failsafe for Scott Baker and Travis Wood should they not be up to par. Feldman’s experience in the bigs as a contact pitcher would compliment the rest of the rotation.

Expect a lower end deal. More to come as news breaks.

UPDATE: The signing is now official. A one year/$6 million deal with an additional $1 million in incentives has been inked. In depth analysis to come later today.
