Chicago Cubs Promote Anthony Rizzo

The day that Chicago Cubs fans have been waiting for has finally come. First baseman Anthony Rizzo was pulled from the Iowa Cubs game today during the third inning of the Iowa Cubs game on Monday. There was no injury this time.

This was the news that Cubs fans have been waiting to hear since the start of the season. Anthony Rizzo has been promoted to the Major League level. In a move that will be made official on Tuesday, Rizzo will make his Cubs’ debut. By calling Rizzo up on Tuesday, the Cubs prevent their top prospect from facing Johan Santana on Monday. That is  a good decision from the Cubs front office. Rizzo is 22 year old, and while he has proven to be a fighter in everything he does, it’s best that he not face a Cy Young candidate in his highly anticipated debut with the Cubs.

Rizzo’s final tally with the Iowa Cubs was .342/.405/.696 to go along with 23 home runs and 62 RBIs in 257 at bats with the Iowa Cubs.
