With their win on Saturday, the Boise Hawks (Short-Season A) locked up a slot in the Northwest League Playoffs. They will start a three game series against Tri-City on Monday. When playoff pitching assignments and rosters have been posted, we will have coverage here on Cubbies Crib.
Boise is the third Cub farm team to make the playoffs this season, joining Tennessee (Double A) and Daytona (High A). We will be following the playoffs in the Northwest, Florida State, and Southern Leagues as they progress throughout the month of September.
Having three of their five top minor league teams qualify for the playoffs in the minors is quite an accomplishment for the Cubs farm system, and a good sign for the future of the franchise.
