Tennessee In The Playoffs

facebooktwitterreddit

The Cubs farm system has produced its second playoff team, as their Double A affiliate the Tennessee Smokies clinched the first half title for the North Division of the Southern League. This is the fourth straight season the Smokies have won the first half title and qualified for the September playoffs. Attention now turns to the Peoria Cheifs, who are still in contention for a post-season birth in the low-A Midwest League.

Now that Tennessee has clinched and guaranteed that two Cub farm teams will get post season experience this year, I think there is a better chance that the Cubs may start shuffling some rosters and promoting players into both Iowa and Tennessee from deeper in the farm system. With twenty-three All-Stars in Double A or lower, the Cubs certainly have no shortage of talent could be ready for a promotion.
