MLB.com’s Prospect Watch is ranking the ten best prospects at each position this week, and the Cub’s Josh Vitters checks in at number 7. When you consider that there are at least one hundred and fifty third basemen in the minor leagues, coming in number seven puts Vitters in a very exclusive company.
While everything they mention about Vitters is absolutely true, the article does neglect to mention that Vitter’s low numbers last season were at least in part due to his arm injury. With that hopefully behind him and with several reports agreeing that Vitters has been working extremely hard this offseason, he might be second only to Brett Jackson in terms of players to watch heading into spring training. If Vitters has a very good spring the Aramis Ramirez Trade Watch could begin sooner than any of us expect.
