Chicago Cubs Hire Pat Listach As Bench Coach

One of the many issues that were to be decided this week at the Chicago Cubs organizational meetings, is who is going to be Mike Quade’s Bench Coach? Well, the Chicago Cubs have already made their decision, and it appeared to be the favorite all along.

Today, sources told ESPN Chicago that the Chicago Cubs have decided to hire Pat Listach to be the Bench Coach to Mike Quade, as well as infield instructor of the team. Listach replaces Alan Trammell, who left the Cubs to serve in the same capacity for his former teammate Kirk Gibson with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Looking at the criteria that Chairman Tom Ricketts laid out in October, Listach fits the bill perfectly as the type of coach Ricketts wants. Ricketts stressed that he wanted someone who knows the Cubs, and his a continuity with the young players coming up in the organization. Before Listach was the 3B coach for the Washington Nationals, he was the manager of the Iowa Cubs.

The Cubs will announce the hiring of Listach once the World Series concludes.
