Geovany Soto To Have Surgery

Chicago Cubs starting catcher Geovany Soto will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right throwing shoulder on Monday. Bye electing to have the surgery now, Soto will need a 3 month recovery time and should be able to participate in baseball activities beginning on January 1st.

We now will probably see an extended look at Wellington Castillo for the remainder of the season. Castillo is expected to be on the team next year as the primary backup to Geovany Soto. Castillo is hitting .286 this year through 7 at bats,
