D-Lee a Fit for the Angels?

There is no need to hide the truth Cubs Fans, right now, the Cubs are not a good baseball team. And, if they can not turn their season around over the next couple of weeks, I think we may see the Cubs become sellers for this years trading deadline. If they do become sellers it is very likely that teams will be calling Cubs asking on the availability of Derrek Lee, Ted Lilly,  Tom Gorzelanny, and maybe even Sean Marshall.

One player that could be dealt sooner rather than later is Derrek Lee, as their maybe a need for him by a contending team. The team being the Los Angeles Angels, who lost their first baseman Kendry Morales for presumably three months. Leading many to speculate that they may look for another replacement, and Derrek Lee could be on their radar.

However, I question whether or not Derrek Lee would even waive his no trade clause, as he has stated over and over in the past that he enjoys being with the Cubs. But, considering that Lee is from California, he may not oppose the trade to the Angels, who obviously play in Los Angeles. Also, the Cubs may not be in the greatest position to trade Lee, considering the sluggish start he has gotten off to, as he is hitting .233/.341/.368 while hitting 6 home runs and driving in 23 runs.

If the Cubs decide not to trade Lee by the Trading Deadline, then that will setup for an interesting situation come the off-season. As Lee is set to become a free agent, and the Cubs have not yet showed a willingness to re-sign their starting first baseman. The Cub virtually have no first basemen in the minors that would be able to replace Lee, so it is likely that if they do get rid of Lee this off-season, they will look outside of the organization for a replacement.
