Late Rally Surges Cubs past Diamondbacks as they Win 8-7
The Cubs continued their early winning ways of Spring Training today, as they beat the Diamondbacks 8-7.
Game Notes
- While Carlos Zambrano did not appear to have his best “stuff” today, he looked good as he went 2 perfect innings and striking out 1.
- The Cubs also got a glimpse of their future today, as Lou Piniella trotted out a pretty young lineup today, among the notables, are Starlin Castro, Josh Vitters, and Tyler Colvin. Castro had a strong showing today, as he went 2-4 in the leadoff spot while playing shortstop. Vitters, also had a productive day as he too went 2-4 as he played third base. And last but certainly not least, Tyler Colvin continued to impress today as he went 2-3 with a double.
- The Cubs are very impressed with the power Colvin has showed so far this spring, and if he keeps it up he could find himself on the 25 man roster coming out of camp.
