Today the Cubs have announced that they have invited 19 non-roster players to Spring Training. Here is the list of players that received the invitation.
Catchers- Robinson Chirinos, Steve Clevenger, Blake Lalli, and Chris Robinson
Infielders-Josh Vitters, Darwin Barney, Matt Camp, Starlin Castro, Bryan LaHair, and Bobby Scales.
Outfielders-Brett Jackson and Brad Snyder.
Pitchers-Andrew Cashner, J.R. Mathes, James Russell, Casey Coleman, Thomas Diamond, Jeff Kennard, and Vince Perkins.
Part of me wonders that if any of the Catchers that were invited have a big spring, could that mean that they could spell Soto instead of Koyie Hill. But other than that, the most likeliest to make the club out of this bunch is first basemen Bryan LaHair.
Other Notes…
Bleed Cubbie Blue takes a look at the Cubs last remaining bench spots, and suggests that the Cubs should look at Russel Branyan, Xavier Nady, or Reed Johnson to fill that Spot.
The Cubs promoted Ivan Dejesus as their new first base coach, and former first base coach Matt Sinatro will now be an advanced scout for the organization.
