Cubs Play Spoiler

The Cubs were supposed to be making a playoff push right about now, but you know what they say about the best laid plans.

That’s right:  they often get VD.  Which is why they should always use protection.

I use humor to distract myself from the disappointment of knowing that all this season’s hopes were futile, that the Cubs have once again fallen short.

There is nothing left now for the Cubs but to play spoiler.  That’s something they are fairly good at, if Thursday night’s victory over the Giants was any indication.

The Giants went into the game needing a win to keep pace in the Wild Card race.  The Cubs were having none of it.  Now, thanks to the plucky North Siders, the Giants are 4 behind Colorado with time fast running out.

Another Cubs win Friday night could be just about the final nail in the coffin for San Francisco’s postseason hopes.  If you can’t make the playoffs yourself, you can at least ruin it for someone else.  That’s what being a spoiler is all about.
