It wouldn’t be a normal day in Cubdom without an “Uh-Oh” moment. Saturday’s was a doozy: Five innings in to the second game of the Rockies series, Aramis Ramirez had to remove himself with soreness in his shoulder. Yes, the same shoulder he separated earlier this season, putting him on the DL for two months.
“Today I just couldn’t do it,” a disheartened Rammy said after the game. ”I tried.”
Evidently, the shoulder has been getting worse and worse since the Reds series. Credit Rammy with fighting through the pain.
Now it looks like the Cubs will have to do without their All-Star third baseman for awhile. He has already been scratched for Sunday, and no one knows how much longer he will be on the shelf.
The Cubs offense, I don’t need to remind everyone, fell off the cliff the last time Ramirez was hurt. Hopefully the same thing won’t happen again.
