Soriano Finds His Power Stroke

Friday it was Aramis Ramirez getting his home run swing back after a long drought (thanks to injury), and Saturday it was Alfonso Soriano‘s turn.  His dislocated pinky proving no hindrance, Soriano cracked a 3-run homer in the sixth to put the Cubs up 5-4 on the sorry-ass Natinals…and there was great rejoicing in Cubbieland, for finally their high-priced line-up was beginning to show the pop everyone expected.

It was a good night for the Cubs all around.  Except for that whole thing about Ted Lilly having to miss a start with a sore knee.  But Randy Wells picked up the slack as the starter, and Kevin Gregg pitched out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom of the 8th as part of a five-out save.  Granted, it’s hard to get too excited about a three-game winning streak against Washington…but considering how things have gone this season, Cubs fans will take what they can get.
