Zambrano Backs Off of Anti-Wrigley Remarks

Carlos Zambrano is back-pedaling on some remarks he made about how awesome the New Yankee Stadium is and how much he wishes the Cubs could get a new place that didn’t still stink like Charlie Root‘s feet.  Carlos’s exact quote was:

"You come into a ballpark like this and you see great things.  You wish that Chicago’d build a new stadium for the Cubs."

Sounds pretty definitive to me.  Not so much, says Carlos.  “I said anybody wants to have a new ballpark,” Zambrano clarified. “As a player, you feel like you’re trying to be more comfortable. As a player, you want to have the greatest ballpark in the National League, or the big leagues. As a fan, we should stay there.

“I don’t have a problem with Wrigley Field. That’s what I said.”

That’s okay Carlos – we know you actually do have a problem with Wrigley Field, no matter how hard you try to back off your remarks.  The fact is no one really cares that much.  Just go out and pitch like the #1 stud Cy Young-type guy we’re constantly being told you’re supposed to be.  We’ll forget you said anything.
