CSN Chicago was looking for a new co-host for the Chicago Cubs pregame and postgame shows. Today, CSN announced who will be joining David Kaplan in that role.

Since December, CSN Chicago has been looking for a new co-host for their Chicago Cubs pregame and postgame shows. Longtime analyst David Kaplan has been partnered with former Cub Todd Hollandsworth for the last seven years. However, Hollandsworth got a new job as a color analyst for the Miami Marlins. CSN has been searching for a new host since.

Yesterday, CSN found their new host in former Cubs outfielder David DeJesus, as he announced on Twitter. Many Cubs fans will remember DeJesus as one of the first free agent signings the Cubs new front office made.

DeJesus’ career

DeJesus spent 13 years in the big leagues, slashing .275/.349/.412 in his career. He finished with 99 home runs and 572 RBIs. He spent the bulk of his career with the Kansas City Royals. DeJesus signed a two year deal with the Cubs in November 2011 before being traded to the Nationals in July 2013. He played solid defender but never won a Gold Glove and was never an All-Star.

DeJesus played in the playoffs just once in 2013 wth the Tampa Bay Rays and has a career WAR of 22.9.

In his season and a half with the Cubs, DeJesus slashed .258/.343/.403 with 15 home runs and 77 RBIs.

DeJesus played his final game in September of 2015. After sitting out the 2016 season, he decided to retire and enter the broadcasting world.

DeJesus should be a great addition to CSN’s Cubs coverage. DeJesus quickly became a fan favorite during his time with the Cubs and was a clubhouse leader. He (along with his wife Kim) are always very active on Twitter, so you can expect him to be very interactive on the pregame and postgame shows.

DeJesus will be partnered with longtime Chicago broadcaster David Kaplan. Kaplan, an avid Cubs fan, spent many years with WGN Radio before leaving for ESPN Radio. He also has another show on CSN called “SportsTalk Live”.

The two should make a great pair on CSN and fans and even the players are already pretty excited.  Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo had this to say about DeJesus joining CSN:
