Morning Marquee: Chicago Cubs rained out; Zobrist still on the trade radar?

The Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals were rained out on Saturday, with the make-up game being scheduled for September 28. The Cubs will look to split the rain-shortened series on Sunday. Saturday’s probable starters will be pushed back to Sunday’s tilt as Tsuyoshi Wada and Yordano Ventura will face off this afternoon.

After the offseason trade rumors of Ben Zobrist faded away with his being dealt to Oakland, they have been rekindled this season with the A’s slow start. At this point, they’re nothing but rumors as the A’s haven’t made any of their players available as Billy Beane doesn’t consider them a “seller” at this point.

Starlin Castro‘s name continues to be tossed around in possible trades as the July deadline grown nearer. His numbers aren’t eye-popping, but they have been adequate. But the Cubs have been waiting for that breakout, similar to what Anthony Rizzo had last season. Even with that, he’s a solid overall player but has some questions. Will the Cubs deal him? Move him to third? Questions yet to be answered, but likely will be soon.

The Pittsburgh Pirates were too good of a ballclub to be playing like they were. They’ve fixed that as they’ve gone 8-2 in their last 10 and have tied the Cubs in the standing. Andrew McCutchen and Josh Harrison have broken out of their early season slumps to help lead the Buccos back into the division race.
