The 2015 regular season hasn’t even begun and rumors are swirling about a huge potential move this coming off-season regarding the Chicago Cubs and another top free agent pitcher.

Now if you have been paying attention closely to Chicago sports lately, the Cubs and Chicago Bears have brought in a handful of pieces from their new managers/head coaches previous teams. With the Bears, John Fox brought in his offensive coordinator and defensive line coach from Denver with him to the Windy City.

More from Chicago Cubs Rumors

On the North Side of Chicago, skipper Joe Maddon convinced his right-hand man, Dave Martinez, to jump ship with him to the National League Central. After failing to land James Shields in a neck-and-neck race with the San Diego Padres for his services, Theo Epstein, and Jed Hoyer could reunite Maddon with another former Tampa Bay Rays arm in David Price.

Last season before Price was traded to the Detroit Tigers, the then 28-year-old southpaw talked about how great it would be to win a World Series with the Chicago Cubs. After fans heard his comments, a move between both the Rays and Cubs appeared to be a possibility.

As noted before, he landed in Detroit.

"“Being a apart of something special is also something you want to do. You can take that to a first-place team. You could take that all the way to a last-place team like the Cubs. With the talent they have coming up they could be a very special team in a few years as well. That would probably be the coolest city to win a championship in. They haven’t done it in I’m not sure how long. To do that there that would be the coolest city to win a championship in right now.” – Price via CSN Chicago."

Former Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas and two other Fox Sports 1 colleagues were discussing the Chicago Cubs and their recent off-season during a segment earlier today. In the video that was posted on their Facebook page, Thomas believes that the Cubs could end up being the destination of choice for Price in 2016, helping them reach the playoffs and eventually into the World Series.

Adding Price to the rotation would definitely help out this club reach the next level. Yes, they have solid pitchers within their rotation from No. 1 through No. 4 (fifth spot pending) and appear to have a better bullpen entering the season.

As of right now, talks regarding a contract extension between both Price and the Tigers appears to be a long-shot according to CBS Sports Jon Heyman, who says that both sides are apart in talks.

Detroit would be crazy to consider moving Price considering the fact that they have reached the post-season in the last four of five years. With all the moves that the Chicago White Sox made during the same time the Cubs were making splashes of their own – there’s definitely going to be competition in both the A.L. and N.L. Central.

It’s exciting to know that Price is well aware of the talent that is brewing within this system. I’m sure he’s paid close attention to his former managers talent during Spring Training, specifically Kris Bryant and Addison Russell.

So will David Price end up reuniting with Joe Maddon on the North Side of Chicago after the 2015 season? There’s a huge chance that it could definitely happen.
