Anthony Rizzo named cover athlete for RBI Baseball 2015

Not only is Anthony Rizzo a future MVP and the face of the Chicago Cubs, but now he’s the face of a video game for the very first time in his career. And I’m sure this won’t be the last time it happens.

According to RBI Baseball’s official Twitter handle, Rizzo will make his video game cover debut for the revamped classic which will be released sometime soon. Before MLB The Show, RBI Baseball was the premier game for fans looking to play as their favorite players back in 1988. This was hands-down one of my favorite games to play as a child besides Super Mario (obviously).

This video game classic came back to life for the very first time in years last spring but could only be purchased digitally. The 2014 version was released for all platforms, including PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and Android.

Prices for the main consoles sat at around $20 while mobile users were able to purchase the full game for only $4.99.

It’s not MLB The Show, but it’ll do. It has been said that the game will feature fresh game modes, authentic ball parks with improved animation and deep stat tracking. I never had the opportunity of purchasing this game, but plan on doing so now that our very own Anthony Rizzo is on the cover.

Rizzo is entering the year as a favorite to win NL MVP honors after his performance in 2014. He finished with 32 home runs, 78 RBIs and 28 doubles with a .286/.386/.527 clip – despite missing some time with injury.

Not only is he looking to improve his totals from last season, but he’s hoping to help this team make history. We’ve all heard about the 25-year-old slugger predicting that the Cubs will win the Central this season.

It’s definitely going to be an exciting season once Cubs baseball is officially on the air. Only 15 more days before Rizzo and other position players report to Mesa for training camp.
