Morning Marquee: Can Edwin Jackson find a spot in the Cubs’ rotation?

facebooktwitterreddit

It’s hard to believe a few years ago that Edwin Jackson was the “big” off-season signing. Granted, the Chicago Cubs were in the throes of their rebuilding, but never did we think he would struggle as bad as he has. So can Jackson find a place in the rotation? Can he even find a place on the staff? At this point, spring training looms large for him. If he goes in and throws fastballs an entire game like he did last year without telling anyone, he won’t have to worry what anyone in Chicago thinks. Because he won’t be playing there anymore.

The Cleveland Indians got a brief scare when pitcher Danny Alvarez found himself in the news for possible rape allegations on Wednesday. But after the evidence was sorted through, Salazar was not charged with any crime. The possible charges had stemmed from an incident at the Cleveland Hustler Club in Jan. 22.

Ryan Ludwick has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Texas Rangers that includes an invite to Spring Training. The 36-year-old is making his return to the Rangers, where he made his debut in 2002. He’s played for six teams, and had his best year with the Cardinals in 2008 when he hit 37 home runs and had 113 RBIs.
