Morning Marquee: Starlin Castro in the news again for the wrong reasons

The Chicago Cubs shortstop keeps making headlines, but for the wrong reasons. For the second time in less than a month, Starlin Castro was questioned by police in the Dominican in connection with a shooting at a nightclub. He was cleared in the previous situation, and his agent, Paul Kinzer, says officials have video surveillance that shows he wasn’t involved this time.

Unfortunately, this is the third incident that has arisen in an off-season while Castro was back in the Dominican. He has been cleared each time, but continues to find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Possibly with the wrong people. The Cubs aren’t happy his name has come up again in an incident, but no further comments have been issued by the organization.

Wandy Rodriguez has reportedly signed a Minor League deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, pending a physical. Rodriguez struggled with injuries over the last two seasons in Pittsburgh, starting only six games in 2014 because of a leg injury, and appearing in only 12 games in 2013 due to a forearm injury. His career numbers of 91-94, with a 4.06 ERA in 10 seasons have helped create the “Wandy line”. The equivalent of what the “Mendoza line” is for hitters.
